Controlling people in leadership
(Curtis Bay, MD)
Guys, I am new here, and I am frustrated.
I knew I was going to go through suffering through ministry, but never thought it would be at the hand of a fellow leader on the team.
We as a church meet inside a non-profit building within Baltimore, running about 70 a week, the usual. This doesn't have anything to do with the question though.
We have a couple on leadership, they own the building, and the issue is that these individuals tend to be overbearing, controlling, rude to people who don't agree with their opinion. It's something we're working on with them, none of us are perfect.
My biggest issue at this point is that they use any opportunity to "showboat" the non-profit in the building, completely overshadowing our church in some respects. Of course this isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's defeating to me.
Today, for instance. the North American Mission Board brought a vision tour through our neighborhood, so we had them stop by, this was a church thing. I was prepared to cast the churches vision, super excited actually. The tour ended up being mostly about the non-profit we meet inside, the owners of the building basically took over most of the show..
Now we did get to talk about the church, so it isn't like we were completely run over, but again, I feel defeated. Removing them from leadership isn't an option either. They are a huge part of what we do, and a great asset, it's just these little issues that drive me insane! Does anyone here have any insight?
Please and thank you! Prayer would also be appreciated, bless you all!
