Handling Transitions

After a decade of service to a church, God has called me to a church near my elderly parents. There's been a little tension in our current church over the past few years. But this is my first time to leave a congregation.

Can you offer any advice on making a good transition?

transition
by: Paddy Venner

When we left to emigrate and follow a calling, we had done succession planning where everything could be handed over seemlessly. We told our folks to get behind the new man, to submit to his vision and to release us to our new church. We made a clean cut and moved on so that the new man was not hindered by us hovering in the background. Have a celebration of what you've achieved there, say goodbye and move on. It's as simple as that. Hope this helps
