Traits of a Disciple

by Rev. Eldon Busenitz
(Mt. Morris Community Church)

Who is a true disciple? Are you?

Text: Matthew 10:24-31

1. Become Like Your Teacher vs. 24-25
*The concept of submission permeates discipleship.
*A true disciple loves, learns, and lives the Word of God (cf. Luke 6:40)
*How will the world treat a true disciple? - John 15:18-21; 2 Timothy 3:12; 1 John 3:13

2. Fear God Alone vs. 26-31
*One of the greatest hindrances to speaking and living for Christ is fear of people. (cf. Prov. 29:25; Gal. 2:12)

Why?

*Because God knows the real facts vs. 26-27
*Because God has the final say vs. 28
*Because God cares for His own vs. 29-31

So Do Not Fear!

Jim Elliot said, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
