You're Not Alone

All of you listen YOU are not alone I have had the fortune of expierencing many occupations over the last 35 years and am currently becoming an elder in our little church with the expectations of ending up associate pastor. One of the common themes I am finding in all of your stories is (no offense intended) your churches seem to have a lack of qualified elders to support the pastors and their wives.

Our little church was just shut down for a building issue and we are meeting in a restruant over flow room weekly and we are becoming stronger than ever through all of the turmoil. We lost many members through it all but the few who remain fully support the pastor in every way. We are researching the qualifications of elders and pastors as well as members. When was the last time anyone gave a sermon on requirements of a member or how to support the pastor? Maybe a guest speaker or an elder could present the sermon. Please don't take offense. I have the same issues in my full time profession. I have quit several jobs due to non support of the boss or owner as well as compensation issues.
